Spots open for Ocala Future Leaders Academy

The City of Ocala has announced its summer youth employment program, Ocala Future Leaders Academy 2021.

Designed to create on-the-job training in preparation for future roles within the organization, the program is open to all City of Ocala residents ages 16-19, with 25 applicants being selected.

Those selected will learn about personal and professional growth, financial literacy and technical job skills and certification through training seminars. Additionally, each participant will be paired with a mentor, who will assist with learning job assignments, improving interpersonal skills and enhancing self-confidence.

Participants will be paid $10 an hour and are expected to work 20-25 hours a week. Transportation assistance is available in the form of a SunTran bus pass, which will only be good during the program period.

Applications much be submitted by March 26 at 5 p.m. Qualified applicants will be interviewed via Zoom in April, paid training will take place June 1-11 and department work assignments will occur June 14-July 23.
