About Ocala Gazette
The Ocala Gazette was founded during the summer of 2020 by Jennifer Hunt Murty.
The goal was to create a platform for reliable information and thoughtful dialogue on local issues, which depending on the situation, would bring Ocalans together to celebrate, sympathize or debate our community’s history in the making.
The mission’s heart, however, has always been to deliver trustworthy local journalism so that corruption, misinformation and abuse are not hidden from the public and left unchallenged.
Fast forward a few years, and many awards later, the Gazette’s journalists have earned a reputation for their willingness to dive into tough subjects the community needs to address- delivering truth despite the political and financial pressures otherwise.
The awards are nice, but more than anything, the Gazette team measures their success by their stories’ impact on their community.
