The state university system’s Board of Governors next week will consider confirmation of Kent Fuchs as interim president of the University of Florida and Timothy Beard as interim president of Florida A&M University. The board is scheduled to take up the confirmations as part of a Sept. 18 meeting in Tampa. Fuchs, a former University of Florida president, was tapped in July by the UF Board of Trustees to serve as interim leader after the resignation of President Ben Sasse. The Florida A&M Board of Trustees in July selected Beard, a former president of Pasco-Hernando State College, to serve as interim leader after the resignation of President Larry Robinson. While university trustees select presidents, the decisions must be confirmed by the state board.
