Driver dies in crash on I-75 in NW Marion County

A single vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Northwest Marion County on the afternoon of Feb. 11 claimed the life of the driver, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The victim’s gender, age and city of residence were not provided in an FHP press release.
The crash occurred around 2:10 p.m. near the 364-mile marker, the press release stated. State Road 326 is located at Exit 368.
According to the press release, the SUV was traveling northbound in the center lane when the victim “lost control (and) traveled in a northeast direction off the roadway and collided with a tree. (The SUV) then caught fire and became engulfed.”
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue, the press release stated.
