The Habitat for Humanity of Marion County announced on Monday that this year’s Strawberry Festival has been canceled due to the pandemic. The primary concerns were with the safety of everyone in attendance and the inability to limit the total number of attendees.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to all our vendors, sponsors, and volunteers who were primed to make our 8th year the best Festival yet,” the organization said in a release. “Our priority continues to be the health and safety of our guests, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and staff and as such we are following the recommendations of national and global health experts.”

The Habitat for Humanity will still have its annual fundraiser. The organization also announced that next year’s Strawberry Festival will take place on March 5.
