19 positive tests in schools last week, 127 quarantined

There were 19 positive COVID-19 tests among students and employees in the Marion County Public Schools for the week of Sept. 11-17, with 127 people quarantined for having direct contact with someone who tested positive.

Those who tested positive for COVID-19 included nine students and 10 employees at 13 schools and two administration offices, said Kevin Christian, school district spokesman. That resulted in 105 students and 22 employees being quarantined by the Florida Department of Health.

The schools impacted by COVID-19 cases positive cases were Belleview Elementary, Belleview Middle, Dunnellon High, Emerald Shores Elementary, Forest High, Fort McCoy School, Hammett Bowen Jr. Elementary, Hillcrest School, Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks, Lake Weir Middle, Liberty Middle Sunrise Elementary and Vanguard High.

Two administration offices, the ESE Department and Food and Nutrition Services, were also impacted by COVID-19.
