24 positive tests in schools last week

There were 24 positive COVID-19 tests among students and employees in the Marion County Public Schools for the week of Sept. 4-10, with 104 people quarantined for having direct contact with someone who tested positive.

Those who tested positive for COVID-19 included 19 students and five employees at 11 schools and two administration offices, said Kevin Christian, school district spokesman That resulted in 93 students and 11 employees being quarantined by the Florida Department of Health.

The schools impacted by COVID-19 cases positive cases were Dunnellon High, Forest High, Greenway Elementary, Hammett Bowen Jr. Elementary, Horizon Academy at Marion OKS, Lake Weir High, Liberty Middle, Marion Oaks Elementary, Oakcrest Elementary, Ocala Springs Elementary, Sparr Elementary and Ward-Highlands Elementary.

Two administration offices, the ESE Department and Transportation, were also impacted by COVID-19.
