Woman dies in crash in SE Marion County

A two vehicle crash in south Marion County claimed the life of a 51-year-old Boynton Beach woman on June 5, the Florida Highway Patrol has reported.

The crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. on County Road 42 just east of Southeast 105th Avenue, according to an FHP press release.

The release stated that a pickup truck driven by a 46-year- old Ocklawaha man was traveling west on CR 42 and for “unknown reasons entered the eastbound lane of County Road 42 and entered the path” of an oncoming SUV driven by the victim. 

The pickup driver was not wearing a seat belt and incurred minor injuries. The victim, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced deceased on the scene, according to the press release.

The FHP reported a fatal crash in the same vicinity on June 3, when a westbound vehicle “crossed the centerline” and struck an eastbound vehicle. 

The FHP Crash Dashboard states that, based upon preliminary data, from Jan. 1 to May 27 there have been 38 fatalities on Marion County roadways,
