Woman dies after being struck by golf cart

A 76-year-old Summerfield woman died Aug. 27 after she was struck in a southeast backyard by a golf cart, the Florida Highway Patrol has reported.

According to an FHP press release, the victim was struck in a yard in the 14000 block of Southeast 52nd Court in Summerfield around 3:20 p.m.

The golf cart was operated by a 75- year-old Orange Springs woman, who was not injured, the press release stated.

Preliminary data at the FHP Crash Dashboard at flhsmv.gov states have been 46 traffic fatalities in Marion County from Jan. 1 to Aug. 18.
