Unveiling of functional relief sculpture at the E.D. Croskey Recreation Center

Jessica and Stephen Pigman of Pigman’s Music & Arts Company describe how they created the Patchwork Parable functional relief sculpture in the gymnasium at the E.D. Croskey Recreation Center in Ocala, Fla. on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020. AdventHealth funded phase two of the project for the art panels that are designed to absorb noise and echoes. According to a press release from the City of Ocala: The functional portion of the installation is sound absorption. This extends the ability of the facility to provide more music, theater, and other performance opportunities and will serve as the alternative rain location for the Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series. It addresses the sound tunnel that currently exists when bringing performances inside the building, mitigating the need for ear plugs. This will also assist during recreational activities including basketball, Zumba, and other fitness classes hosted in the facility. The project was completed in late August.
