Two shootings within a mile apart in Ocala on Friday

The Ocala Police Department is investigating two separate shootings in Ocala on Friday night that happened only a few blocks apart.

One adult is injured after officers responded at about 7:15 p.m. Friday to a shooting at the 2000 block of Southwest 4th Street in Ocala. While OPD was working that scene, another shooting occurred at the 1900 block of Southwest 1st Street at around 8:20 p.m., leaving one adult dead, according to OPD.

Investigators say they have not determined whether the shootings have any connection, according to OPD.

The first victim’s injuries are not life-threatening. The second victim was found in a vacant lot on 1st Street, deceased from gunshot wounds, according to OPD.

Police have not identified any suspects in either incident. No information has been released about the victim’s identities or ages at this time.
