Three found shot in vehicle are recovering

Law enforcement officials are continuing to investigate the case of three people being found shot inside a vehicle in the 3900 block of Southeast Maricamp Road in the early morning of May 31.

Two adults and a juvenile are in stable condition following an apparent vehicle-to-vehicle shooting that day, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office recently reported.

“At approximately 2:56 a.m., MCSO deputies responded to the 3900 block of SE Maricamp Road in reference to a shooting. The preliminary investigation revealed that two adults and one juvenile were inside a vehicle when another vehicle drove by and opened fire, striking all three victims,” a statement from MCSO indicated.

A nearby resident who was getting up early for work heard what sounded like a “pounding on his door” a few minutes before 3 a.m. on May 31 but could not confirm what caused the noises.

The resident went outside and saw a large presence of emergency services and a “compact car” stopped in the eastbound left turn lane in the 3900 block of Southeast Maricamp Road. He thought he heard a female voice screaming from inside the car.

The occupants were transported by emergency services and law enforcement set up an investigation of the vehicle, the resident indicated.

According to the MCSO, Major Crimes is handling the case.
