The Discovery Center’s newest exhibit, Ready Set Go, opens to the public July 17 and will be on display through Sept. 25 at the Discovery Center, 701 NE Sanchez Ave. The exhibit is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The new exhibit explores the many modes of transportation that move people and goods around the world. There will be hands-on experimentation stations and activities such as a toy engine auto-garage where children learn about auto mechanic skills, a kid-sized drag race strip with kid-sized, foot-powered cars, a model train, working traffic light and a drag racing suit from Ocala’s Burnyzz team. This exhibit is sponsored by Marion Rotary Duck Derby, Ocala Electric Utilities, Burnyzz and the Discovery Center Foundation.

For the exhibit grand opening, there will be a special “Feel the Wheels” event taking place on the field behind the Discovery Center. Guests will have the chance to get up close with many different types of vehicles including a sanitation truck, fire truck, race cars and more. The event will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be included with a general admission ticket.

General admission to the Discovery Center is $8 per person or $28 for a family of four. Annual memberships are also available for individuals and families.
