The Arbor Day Foundation named Ocala a 2020 Tree City USA recently in honor of the city’s commitment to effective urban forest management.

The Tree City USA program has four requirements, including having a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

“The trees being planted and cared for by Ocala are ensuring that generations to come will enjoy a better quality of life,” said Dan Lambe, President, Arbor Day Foundation in a release.
