Ocala Gears Up for Fall Sunset Songs Series

Local and regional artists to perform monthly through December

The City of Ocala is gearing up for the start of its new Fall Sunset Songs series. The outdoor music series will take place once a month from September through December, and will feature a lineup of local and regional artists. All concerts are free to attend.

The first concert takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The show, titled Fortune Child, will feature a performance of rock, soul, and blues music from the power trio consisting of Christian Powers (lead vocals/drums), Buddy Crump (guitarist), and Jon Ward (bassist). In 2023, Fortune Child released eight singles and has a new album available this year.

Saxsquatch will perform on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Saxsquatch, a seven-foot-tall multi-instrumentalist, producer, and electronic music artist from North Carolina, will take the stage. Saxsquatch has amassed over 3 million followers online through his music, which has been featured in notable films such as Rocket League and Fortnite. Saxsquatch has been a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s “That’s My Jam!”

Cat Ridgeway & the Tourists, an Orlando singer-songwriter, will take the stage on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Cat Ridgeway is known for her soulful vocals, high energy, and magnetic stage presence. Cat Ridgeway has directly supported acts including Houndmouth, Amanda Shires, Hannah Wicklund, and Rock & Roll Hall-of-Famer Marty Balin (Jefferson Airplane/Starship).

The Flattlanders, a North Florida bluegrass and gospel band, will take the stage on Wednesday, Dec. 11. The Flattlanders consist of Brian Andrews (guitar), Joey Lazio (mandolin), Andy Kennan (banjo), and Matt Melton (bass). The Flattlanders are a North Florida bluegrass and gospel band delivering tight harmonies and a hard-driving traditional sound with a contemporary edge, according to a city media release.
