The Academy at Ocala Civic Theatre has announced the new Darrell G. Riley Memorial Scholarship for local students in the performing arts.

Riley, who died in 2021, was a volunteer and board member of OCT for nearly 30 years in addition to serving as an associate professor of history at the College of Central Florida.

The scholarship is made possible by a contribution from Jordan Davidsen, who raised the funds through a trivia contest held in Riley’s memory. Riley was known for his trivia skills and coached CF’s Brain Bowl.

The Darrell G. Riley Memorial Scholarship will help the families of our students who apply for financial aid with Academy tuition,” according to an OCT press release. “We can’t think of a better way to honor Darrell’s memory, and we hope others will be equally inspired to create a legacy donation by contributing to this scholarship fund.
