A somber Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony was held by members of the West Port U.S. Army JROTC Honor Guard on Sept. 9.

Battalion Commander Cadet Lt. Col. Luke Meiers read a commemorative Sept. 11 speech shortly before the WPHS U.S. Army JROTC Honor Guard lowered the national and state flags and replaced the American flag with the Flag of Honor, another star-spangled banner that includes the names of all the 9/11 victims on the stripes.

The solemn event showed how the youth, even though they weren’t alive then, remember 9/11.
