Author and relationships expert Aukelien van Abbema will lead a free relationships seminar at Grace Episcopal Church on Dec. 1 at noon. The seminar will focus on navigating the modern dating landscape and overcoming common dating myths.
These myths, such as, “But you are so cute!” or “You just have to let it go and be happy single” and “The one will show up when you least expect it” often cause more anguish than relief. Abbema is considered an expert on helping people navigate these troubles and create positive coping mechanisms and reinforcements.
Abbema, a native of The Netherlands, is the author of “The Relationship Guide for Single People” and other relationship books, including “Dare to Date” and “Single in Church.” She is also a licensed emotionally focused couples therapist, or “EFCT” counselor, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the topic. Her book, originally written in Dutch and translated to English by Erin van Santen, tackles many of these common dating myths.
This session plans to address questions like “How do you start a relationship well?” and “How can a healthy and secure connection benefit you and your partner’s mutual growth?”, providing practical tips and advice for individuals at every stage of their relationship journey.
The event is free to attend and open to the public.
