Sophomore point guard Xzavion McCoy paced Forest with 13 points and five assists, as the host Forest Wildcats were able to split the season series with West Port with a big 69-48 win on Friday night.

The Forest seniors went out on a high note as Forest dominated from start to finish.

Forest made eleven three pointers in the game, making it extremely difficult for West Port to keep pace.

West Port found itself down by seven in the opening frame, 20-13. Forest extended that lead to fifteen points at the half with a 38-23 lead.

West Port came out hot in the third quarter, going on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to single digits. But Forest relied on the long-range shots to extend the lead to 16 after the third.

Forest junior Naylan Rhem contributed 10 points and nine rebounds in the win, also throwing down an exclamation dunk in the second half.

“We played extremely well tonight and it’s a great way to honor our seniors with a win like that,” Hoffmann said. “We shot the ball well, but now it’s time to get ready for districts.”

West Port star Jovan Brooks led the way for the Wolfpack, scoring a team high 14 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

With the win, Forest concludes its regular season with an 18-7 record. Up next is the district tournament, hosted by Fleming Island.

West Port falls to 6-15 on the season with the loss. The Wolfpack will also move on to district play next week.
