The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is now accepting applications for alligator harvest permits for the 2024 Statewide Alligator Harvest Program and the new Alligator Super Hunt.
Applications for both opportunities opened on May 3, and may be submitted at any county tax collector’s office, license agent or online at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com.
The Alligator Super Hunt is a new offering for 2024 that allows hunters the opportunity to harvest two alligators from most alligator management units and private property with owner permission from Aug. 15 through Dec. 31. The cost is $5 nonrefundable for each application. This year only 100 permits will be available for the Super Hunt and a random drawing will be held to allocate the permits. Those who win the drawing will be automatically charged for an alligator trapping license and two hide validation tags. Those who already have an alligator trapping license that is valid through Dec. 31, 2024, will not need to purchase a license. A hunting license is not required for either hunt.
The Statewide Alligator Harvest Program also offers more harvest opportunities for 2024. That program runs from Aug. 15 through Nov. 8. Each permit allows the harvest of two alligators from a specific alligator management unit or county. This year, 7,356 permits will be available. The cost of applying is $0, but credit card information is required for submission. Applicants can submit only one application. The application period is broken up into four phases: May 3 — May 13, May 17 — May 27, May 31 — June 10, and June 13 — until filled.
