The white-crowned sparrow is common throughout North America, from northern Alaska to central Mexico. But here in Florida, it’s a rarity. This one was photographed recently at the Marjorie Hoy Memorial Park at the Orange Lake Overlook, a scenic location just south of McIntosh on Highway 441. Known as the “windmill hill,” it is now managed by the Alachua Conservation Trust and has become a birding hot spot. (Photo: MichaelWarren.com)
