Bird of the Week: Greater yellowlegs

The greater yellowlegs is one of our common shorebirds. As their name suggests, they’re somewhat larger than the subtly upturned bill. This one was photographed at a retention pond near the Baseline Landfill, where a small flock of black-necked stilts were foraging in the background.
