The Rainbow Springs Art in Dunnellon gallery would like to award two $1,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who want to pursue studies in the arts in college.

The arts include such pursuits as fine art, visual art, creative writing, theater art, music and auditory art, and culinary art. Students in Citrus, Levy, Marion and Hernando counties are eligible.

Martha Pelot, who is overseeing the scholarships, said the gallery is community- and art-focused and organizers are interested in helping students from the area who want to continue their education in the arts.

“When you go to college right after high school, you don’t know what to expect,” she said. “The scholarship should serve as a good buffer for easing yourself into the college scene.”

Applications are online at rainbowspringsart.com. Click on “About Us.” Applications also are at the gallery, located at 20826 Walnut St., Dunnellon.

Candidates should submit the application, examples (or photos) of their art, an essay and letter of recommendation. The deadline is April 30.
