Woman in wheelchair dies following traffic crash

A woman crossing a northwest Ocala road in a wheelchair was struck on March 1 and died of her injuries, according to the Ocala Police Department.

The woman, who was not identified by name in an OPD press release, was struck by a 2011 Mazda that was traveling east as she attempted to cross in the 4500 block of Northwest Blitchton Road around 9:15 p.m. She was transported to a local hospital, where she died of her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the press release.
