UPDATE: Alert lifted after water main break

UPDATE: Marion County Utilities has lifted the boil water notice for customers in the JB Ranch, Majestic Oaks, and State Road 200 Corridor service areas following the satisfactory completion of a bacteriological survey showing that the water is safe to drink.

ORIGINAL POST: A water main break is affecting customers in the JB Ranch, Majestic Oaks and State Road 200 Corridor service areas.

Marion County Utilities crews are on-site conducting repairs and working as quickly as possible to restore service, the news release noted. A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for customers in these areas:

• Bent Tree
• Boyd Plaza
• Brookhaven
• Cherrywood
• Cherrywood Estates
• Copperleaf
• Freedom Commons
• Freedom Crossings
• Graystone
• Hardwood Trails
• Jasmine Park
• JB Ranch
• Laurel Commons
• Liberty Village
• Majestic Oaks
• Meadow Glen
• Oak Trace Villas
• Ocala Crossing South
• Pidgeon Park
• Pioneer Ranch
• Sun Country
• The Oaks

Residents should:

• Bring all water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or washing dishes to a rolling boil for at least one minute.
• Continue boiling water until further notice.
• Once repairs are complete and water service is restored, the notice will remain in effect until bacteriological testing confirms the water is safe to drink. An announcement lifting this precautionary boil water notice will be issued at that time.

“In addition to the ongoing repair work, the Marion County Utilities billing system is currently down and we are experiencing higher-than-normal call volumes. We appreciate your patience as we address both issues,” the news release noted.
