The Villages is one of three Florida cities that will receive a new acute care hospital being built by HCA Healthcare.

Gainesville and Fort Myers are also slated to receive new hospital facilities.

The facility set to be built in the Villages will include 60-beds to provide acute care to the area’s residents.

Gainesville’s planned hospital will house 90 beds, while the Fort Myers hospital will handle 100 beds.

“Florida continues to experience rapid growth,” FCA Healthcare CEO Sam Hazen said. “We are excited to expand our presence in Florida and enhance our ability to care for patients.”

The new hospitals are a continuation of HCA’s recent plan to invest approximately $3 billion over a three-year span. Included in the plan is the $360 million HCA Florida University Hospital, which opened earlier this month, as well as renovations and expansions to existing facilities.

Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital are existing HCA hospitals.
