Tree destroys RV In severe thunderstorm in the Holiday Trav-L-Park

A lightning strike is apparently what caused the tree to split. According to Ocala Fire Rescue, the occupants were originally trapped inside, but were uninjured.

Strong storms passed through the area on Thursday evening (Aug. 22), knocking down trees and power lines according to Ashley Lopez, public information officer for Ocala Fire Rescue

Lopez said calls for service related to downed trees and power lines were received by OFR from about 5:45 p.m. until about 6:35 p.m. Additional calls were received around 8 p.m.

OFR responded to at least two calls for storm-related service in southwest Ocala. Lopez said there were no injuries immediately reported in the calls to OFR.
