The Transitions Life Center, or TLC, is a nonprofit organization that provides a safe, caring and enriching community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The organization hosts various fundraisers throughout the year and the recent Donation Derby was deemed a real winner.

Program Supervisor Tony Navarre noted in the news release that the initial fundraising goal of $2,500 was greatly surpassed, with a total of $10,615 raised. The first-place team, Millenium Falcon, raised $2,895, with the Snickerdoodle team coming in second by raising $2,665.

The online appeal for votes noted that, “Our elegant ladies and dapper gentlemen are joining forces for a friendly competition, all in support of a noble cause. Show your support by voting for your favorite hat team by making a donation of any amount.”

“We are thrilled to share with you the excitement and success of our recent Donation Derby race. It was a truly exhilarating event filled with unexpected twists and turns that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Throughout the race, we witnessed our jockeys making remarkable advances, creating an exciting and engaging atmosphere. Our members thoroughly enjoyed participating in various activities such as decorating hats, team naming, and moving their horses on the leader board. The energy and camaraderie made this event all the more special,” noted Navarre in the news release.

“We extend a round of applause to all our members who participated. Each one contributed to making this race a memorable and successful event, and we are proud of their efforts and achievements,” Navarre wrote.
