The Ocala water tower is shown in this 1965 photo with a metal exterior. The 500,000-gallon tank located at Northeast Ninth Street and Northeast Eighth Avenue is 175 feet tall. [State Archives of Florida]

Through the decades the tower has received several paint jobs. The latest design, incorporated in 2013, features the multi-colored Ocala city logo. The redesign cost nearly $100,000 to complete.
