Dear readers,

This month we’ve reached out asking for your support and we have been touched by the generous response.

The Ocala Gazette exists to connect our community and deliver independent journalism for Marion County.

What motivates us? Our love for our community. It’s this feeling that makes us protective of it, fuels our long hours, and gives us the gumption to ask hard questions. It motivates us to advocate for what is in the community’s best interest, particularly for those who do not have the privilege of having a seat at the tables of power.

Some news outlets play it safe and rake in dollars while not holding anyone in power accountable to the people. That’s not us.

We believe our audience wants us to dig deeper and deliver information on some of the complicated issues plaguing our community and alert them to the ones percolating just below the surface.

A factor that complicates the business of news, in our case, is our commitment to keeping digital news reporting free for everyone. We believe knowledge is power and the power needs to be with the people regardless of their ability to pay.

Can you help us sustain this brand of local journalism in Marion County?

It doesn’t take a lot of money to send us the message that you appreciate and support the work we are doing. In fact, small recurring donations are crucial to understanding the scope of the community support for our efforts.

We exist to help you. Can we count on your support for 2023?

Please sign up to be a sustainer of the Gazette’s efforts by pledging small monthly recurring payments of $10 using this link:  bit.ly/ocalagazette

Also, tax deductible donations can be made to the community news fund established with the Florida Press Association for the benefit of the Ocala Gazette by visiting: www.ocalagazette.com/donate.
