Shooting in the Shores, no injuries reported

A Silver Springs Shores car wash was rocked by gunfire during an apparent drive-by shooting on Friday afternoon.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there was a call for “shots fired” sometime after 1:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the Caliber Car Wash at 125 Bahai Avenue Court, just off Southeast Maricamp Road.

“We located… a vehicle at the nearby Kangaroo with bullet holes. No injuries reported, and the investigation is ongoing,” MCSO Public Information Officer Valerie Strong stated in a text.

An individual in the vicinity during the incident recalled hearing 12 shots fired.
