Schools report 10 positive cases, 44 quarantined

During the first week of schools being opened in Marion County, there were 10 positive cases of COVID_19 reported across the district – six students and four employees, the Marion county Department of Health reported. The report covered Monday-Thursday of last week.

The positive tests led to 35 students and nine employees being quarantined – a total of 44 people, according to a Marion County Public Schools news release.

The schools or facilities that were impacted by the positive tests and quarantines included Belleview Middle, East Marion Elementary, Emerald Shores Elementary, Lake Weir High, Maplewood Elementary, Marion Charter School, Shady Hill Elementary, Vanguard High and the Elementary Curriculum & Instruction Department.
