Person of interest held in suspected SW murder

Marion County Sheriff’s detectives announced they have a person of interest in a suspected murder at a home in the Hidden Oaks neighborhood in Southwest Ocala.

Officials are not releasing details about the person other than they are being held on unrelated charges, according to reports.

On March 26, deputies were called to check on a person at a home near SW 103rd Street Road and SW 75th Terrace. When officers arrived, they noticed a small fire in the home. Marion County Fire Rescue put out the fire quickly, but once inside officers found a body, reports state.

Officials have not released any information about the victim or the manner of death. On Tuesday, they described the nature of the crime as “heinous” and said they were waiting on forensic tests to positively identify the body.
