OPD looking for armed robber

Ocala Police Department reports it received a call at 6:43 p.m. about an armed robbery at the Kay Jewelers located at 2400 NE 49th Ter., west of Bob Evans and adjacent to Six Gun Plaza on Silver Springs Blvd.

According to a spokesperson for the department, “one black male entered the store with a handgun and ordered multiple employees into a bathroom. The suspect then broke into the glass jewelry display cases and stole a large amount of jewelry. Detectives are investigating this incident. No suspect is in custody at this time. There were no customers inside at the time and there are no reported injuries.”

As of 7: 45 p.m. there was a heavy police presence at Six Gun Plaza.
