Ocala man dies in crash on I-75

A 22-year-old Ocala man died as a result of an early morning single-vehicle crash on May 5 on Interstate 75 in Alachua County,  the Florida Highway Patrol has reported.

According to the FHP press release, at 12:25 a.m. the victim, who was not identified by name, was traveling in a pickup truck on the northbound exit at State Road 121 “at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the curve. The pick-up truck entered the east grass shoulder and struck a tree.”
According to a Florida Department of Transportation website, the exit for the state road is at mile marker 382.

The victim was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, according to the press release.

The release indicated the victim was not wearing a seat belt.
