On Wednesday, June 21, Ocala Fire Rescue’s Engine 7 and a Safety Officer responded to a flood assessment call near SE 28th Place and SE Fifth Terrace. Upon arrival, Engine 7 encountered a duplex with a flooded front yard and a ground depression of approximately 30 feet in diameter, less than five feet from the residence.

Crews immediately alerted the occupants and ensured they evacuated safely.

Due to the magnitude of the depression and its proximity to residential structures, the building department and the state warning point were notified.

No injuries were reported.

Marion County Emergency Management also responded.
