North Marion girls come up short against Buchholz in first loss of the season

Junior forward Brianna Garcia scored 13 points and junior center Dy’Ani Hadley chipped in 10 as the Lady Colts came up just short against the visiting Buchholz Bobcats 48-38 on Monday night.

The Bobcats were sparked by freshman forward Jamison Cardwell, who led Buchholz with 14 points. Senior center Jayla Lee and junior guard Toni Davis each scored 9 for the winning squad.

North Marion head coach Stephanie Brown stressed the necessity of playing defense for an entire four quarters.

“Tonight’s game was an eye opener for the girls,” Brown said. “Defensively, we played lazy until the last three minutes of the 4^th quarter.”

“I told the ladies if we were going to win, defense would be key,” Brown added.

With the win, the visiting Bobcats moved to 4-5 on the season. Their next contest will be at P.K. Yonge on Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. tip.

The Lady Colts sit at 6-1 after their first loss of the season. North Marion hosts West Port on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m.
