Marion County names library meeting room after lifelong education advocate

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners recognized Florence Pritchard for her help promoting literacy and public service in Marion County on Nov. 16.

In honor of her efforts, the county commission announced it was renaming the meeting room at Freedom Public Library in southwest Ocala the “Florence Fay Pritchard Meeting Room.”

Prichard, 85, holds a doctorate degree in administration, supervision and curriculum development. She is also an author of short stories, plays and novels.

She joined the Friends of the Freedom Public Library after moving to Marion County in 2012 and is currently its president.
