Marion County firefighter dies at 47

Marion County Fire Rescue Firefighter Paramedic Frank Canizares died Tuesday morning. He was 47.

No cause of death was revealed.  

Canizares grew up in Hialeah before joining the Air Force in 1993 upon graduating from high school. He served at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico until an honorable discharge in 1995.  

He spent more than 15 years working for Marion County Fire Rescue and worked at Station 10 near The Villages before his death.  

Our department is following protocols to support Frank’s family,” Fire Chief James Banta wrote on Marion County Fire Rescue’s Facebook page. “Please keep Frank’s family, the crews of Stations #10 and #32, and our entire department in your thoughts and prayers today.”
