Man dies following motorcycle crash in Ocala National Forest

A 50-year-old Silver Springs man died July 31 as the result of a motorcycle crash on an Ocala National Forest roadway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The single vehicle crash occurred around 3:41 p.m. on National Forest Road 5, about 1.18 miles south of National Forest Road 22, according to an FHP press release.
“The victim’s motorcycle was southbound on National Forest 5. The driver lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn and come to rest on top of the driver. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue, the press release stated.
According the FHP Crash Dashboard at flhsmv.gov, preliminary information indicates there have been 41 traffic fatalities in Marion County through July 23. Of those, 13 people died in motorcycle crashes and 10 were pedestrians.
