The Lecanto Lady Panthers, who finished 18-6 during the 2020-21 season, traveled to Vanguard to take on the Lady Knights in an early season clash Tuesday night.

The Lady Knights were able to upend Lecanto 44-31.

JaDah Kingcade, a senior guard for Vanguard, shined in the contest with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 10 steals against Lecanto.

Senior guard Rain Smith led the Lady Knights in scoring, accounting for 17 points on the night.

Terrance Lewis, Vanguard head coach, is pleased with the development of his senior guards.

“Rain Smith is continuing to do what I expect of her outside of merely being a shooter,” Lewis said. “It’s paying off game by game.”

Lewis praised Kingcade for her stellar all-around play.

“JaDah Kingcade is building a good resume for her senior year,” Lewis said. “This is the second consecutive game she has come just shy of a triple-double early in the season.”

With the win, Vanguard moves to 2-1 on the season with an unblemished 2-0 record in district play.

The Lady Knights will host Wildwood on November 30 at 7:30 p.m.
