Local winery Katya Vineyards was recently honored by “Wine Spectator” magazine, according to a June 29 press release, earning a 2022 Restaurant Award for its outstanding wine program.

It is the only Marion County dining establishment to earn this prestigious award for a second year in a row.

“We are very excited about receiving this prestigious award [once again]. We could not do this without our wonderful patrons,” said Katya Vineyards’ Katherine Sokol Deras.

Only 3,169 restaurants (3/10 of 1% of the 1,000,000+ restaurants in the United States) earned one of three awards—the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award—for their devotion to all things wine, according to Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of “Wine Spectator.”

“These awards not only guide our readers to dining establishments with impressive wine lists and outstanding service, but also serve to honor restaurants for their achievements and commitment to maintaining pristine cellars,” he added.

Family owned and operated since 2010, Katya Vineyards won the Award of Excellence, which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists featuring a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.

The special Restaurant Awards issue of “Wine Spectator” will be available to readers on July 12.
