Interim Superintendent Danielle Brewer will take office next week to lead Marion County Public Schools alongside outgoing Superintendent Diane Gullet.

The Marion County School Board is expected to finalize Brewer’s contract at an April 29 meeting. She will serve in the role for a year, three months of which will be a “transition period” for her to shadow Gullett.

“During the transition period, the interim superintendent shall devote her full time and best efforts to studying the conditions of and matters pertinent to the district and shall develop plans for continued operations and improvement,” according to MCPS.

Brewer will earn a base salary of $169,333 and receive benefits.

Gullett will retain her control over district operations until the end of her term on July 11. During this time, Brewer will have the opportunity to recommend candidates for any job vacancies in the district.

A successor to become the permanent superintendent must be chosen by April 29, 2026.
