Iggy’s Four On The Fourth 4 Mile Freedom Run

Samantha Hansen, 16, of the Vanguard High School Cross Country Team, crosses the finish line in first place for women during Iggy’s Four On The Fourth 4 Mile Freedom Run on East Fort King Street at the Ocala-Marion County Veterans Memorial Park in Ocala, Fla. on Sunday, July 4, 2021. The run was delayed for 30 minutes due to torrential rain and lightning that moved through the Ocala area first thing in the morning on the Fourth of July. The race was held in honor of Iggy Miller, who, starting in 1998, took over as the race director of the race which was called the Ocala Jaycees God and Country Day Freedom Run. Miller passed away in Dec. 2013 and since then, the race has been renamed in his honor. DRC Sports managed the run and this year’s benefactors were the Ocala-Marion County Veterans Memorial Park and the We Can Weekend. [Bruce Ackerman/Ocala Gazette] 2021.
