The Lady Knights from Vanguard High School will renew their in-county rivalry this week with the Forest Lady Wildcats.

The Lady Knights enter the game with a 2-2 record, coming off a tough win versus Lecanto 44-31.

Forest has struggled early in the regular season but will look to bounce back with a rivalry game win versus the Lady Knights.

Vanguard senior guard Jadah Kingcade is leading the Lady Knights in scoring at 13.0 points per game, while also leading the team in rebounding at 6.3 per contest.

Senior guard Rain Smith is averaging 10.0 points per game while junior Jyla Gunsby is contributing 10.3 per game. Gunsby also leads the team in assists with 2.7 per game.

Vanguard head coach Terrance Lewis is excited for the matchup with the Marion County rival.

“We are looking to improve on our in-game execution and to get everyone involved, getting a complete game effort on both sides of the ball,” Lewis said. “We have a lot of respect for the Forest program and their coaching staff.”

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 on Friday at the Forest High School gym.
