The Trinity Catholic Celtics will open their 2021-22 regular season against the Buchholz Bobcats at 7:30 P.M. on Aug. 27 at Trinity Catholic High School.

The Celtics finished their 2020 season 7-4 and reached the FHSAA state semifinals.

Leading the Celtics is senior quarterback Cole Gonzales, who finished with more than 1,300 combined passing and rushing yards as a junior.

In the backfield, Gonzales is protected by an impressive offensive line. Juniors Tommy Kinsler, Jacob Smith and Brayden Ramey—all three measure 6 feet, 6 inches tall and hover between 285 and 310 pounds—return to keep the Celtic offensive motor running.

Trinity Catholic and Buchholz have not played one another in some time, said second-year Head Coach John Brantley, but he’s excited for the early challenge.

“I’m really looking forward to that game,” said Brantley. “I’m interested in seeing what that game teaches my players about themselves.”

Buchholz (a 7A school) went 9-2 last year, losing in the Region 1 semifinals to Niceville.

Junior quarterback Creed Whittemore returns to lead a high-octane Buchholz offense.

Senior Quan Lee recorded over 1,400 receiving yards in 2020 for the Bobcats.

If Trinity Catholic were to win this opening game against such an explosive Bobcat offense with playoff pedigree, it could prove to be a huge statement game for the school’s program going forward in 2021.
