Angelina Senecal, 10, eats ice cream with other children from the Boys & Girls Club of Marion County as the Ocala Police Department’s new “Polar Patrol” ice cream truck is revealed at the Ocala Police Department in Ocala, Fla. on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021. Children with the Boys & Girls Club of Marion County were the first, lucky ones to get their free ice cream from the “Polar Patrol,” a new and innovative program that the Ocala Police Department has started to try and build positive relationships in the community, especially with children. The Polar Patrol will give police officers the opportunity to meet and engage with people while enjoying ice cream together. According to a press release, the Polar Patrol program was made possible by generous donations from multiple sponsors. The van, design wrap and ice cream were all donated for the program, the press release states. [Bruce Ackerman/Ocala Gazette] 2021.
