The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help in locating the driver of a dark color pickup truck who fled the scene after turning in front of an oncoming motorcycle on west State Road 200 on Thursday Feb. 1, 2024, injuring the cyclist, who remains hospitalized.

According to an FHP press release, a 74-year-old Dunnellon man was riding a 2019 Harley-Davidson northbound on SR 200 and approached the intersection with Southwest 100th Street around 2:17 p.m. when a dark color pickup truck turned left in the path of the motorcycle and was struck on the right side.

The driver of the pickup fled the scene southbound on SR 200, the press release stated.

The cyclist was transported to a local hospital where he is “recovering,” according to an FHP official.

The FHP requests anyone with information regarding the dark color pickup or the driver contact the FHP Regional Communications Center at (800) 387-1290 or their local Crime Stoppers at ocalacrimestoppers.com or (352) 368-7867.
