UPDATE: The closures will be from overnight from 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, to 6 a.m. Thursday, April 30.

ORIGINAL POST: Motorists are advised that the southbound Interstate 75 (I-75) on ramp from U.S. 27 and the southbound I-75 off ramp to State Road (S.R.) 40 will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, to 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, for milling and resurfacing.

The following detours will be in effect:

  • Motorists on U.S. 27 who wish to travel south on I-75 will be directed to travel east on U.S. 27, south on Northwest 27th Avenue, then west on S.R. 40 to access southbound I-75 from the S.R. 40 interchange.
  • Motorists traveling southbound on I-75 who wish to access S.R. 40 should exit instead at S.R. 200 (Exit 350), proceed east on S.R. 200, and turn north on Southwest 27th Avenue to get to S.R. 40.

This work is part of the Moving I-75 Forward project, which covers more than 30 miles between S.R. 44 in Sumter County and S.R. 326 in Marion County, according to the Florida Department of Transportation press release. Improvements include the addition of an auxiliary lane in both directions, multiple bridge replacements and interchange enhancements.
