A suspect was shot and wounded this morning during an incident involving Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies on U.S. 41 north of Dunnellon, officials say.
The suspect—whose name, age and gender have not been released by the MCSO—sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at a local hospital, according to the agency.
A call came about the incident at 9:27 a.m. Wednesday, said MCSO spokesperson Lt. Paul Bloom.
Four deputies were involved in the incident, and none sustained any injuries, Bloom said. The deputies involved in the shooting will be placed on paid administrative leave until further notice, he added.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be conducting an investigation into the incident.
